Geographical Features
Thiruvarppu is located in the central part of Kottayam district, in a region influenced by low-lying areas and water bodies.
The total area of the Panchayat is approximately 2,427 hectares (about 24.27 square kilometres).
As the region forms part of the Central Travancore plains of Kerala, it is characterized by numerous paddy fields, canals, small backwaters, and irrigation networks.
The Panchayat has good road connectivity with nearby areas such as Kumarakom, Aymanam, and Ettumanoor.
The region falls under the tropical monsoon climatic zone. It experiences high humidity and receives good rainfall throughout the year.
Topography and Water Resources
The terrain of Thiruvarppu is predominantly flat.
The influence of the Meenachil River basin can be observed in the agricultural activities and land-use patterns of the region.
The area has suitable soil and adequate water availability for the cultivation of paddy, coconut, rubber, and other crops.
During the monsoon season, some low-lying areas experience waterlogging, which is one of the common geographical characteristics of the Kottayam–Kuttanad region.
